5G is becoming reality! But how is the past hype around the diverse breathtaking 5G capabilities matching with the first deployments? Many countries have meanwhile assigned the 5G frequencies to operators and many network operators are now starting to deploy 5G networks based on the first 5G products being or becoming available this year based on the last 3GPP Release 15 specifications. In this full-day workshop we want to discuss highly interactively with 5G pioneers and key international experts the current application drivers - such as Media, Automotive, Manufacturing, etc - as well as the technological options for deploying national 5G operator networks as well as new local/campus 5G networks. Of course major questions arising at this point in time are when, where and for what to deploy 5G at an early point in time, knowing that the products and end systems have limited capabilities and 4G/5G interworking and migration will be challenging. So will fixed wireless access and enhanced multimedia applications be the major drivers we will see in the market? And/or will we see already new industrial IoT applications and reduced latency infrastructures in some locations? So what is or what are the short-term 5G business cases and what are the long-term ones?
In the morning we will look at national/international network operator 5G deployments, whereas in the afternoon we want to focus on local 5G networks, including also the option of private 5G networks. The sessions will feature many short talks and a longer panel after the sessions in the morning and in the afternoon allowing for discussions among the speakers and the audience.
