Thomas Hadlich works with Rockwell Automation since 2017 in the area of global product standards and regulations. He is chair of IEC TC65 WG16 „Digital Factory Framework“ (since 2015), providing concepts for use of property-based data for engineering, and participates in ZVEI SG Standards and Models, which defines the core concepts of Industrie 4.0.

Mr. Hadlich has been participating in several standardization groups (e.g. IEC, FDT Group, ZVEI, DKE, OPC Foundation).

He worked twelve years for product development (device integration software) for a small company and then seven years at University Magdeburg pursuing his doctorate degree, working on research and industry projects related to distributed control and Industrie 4.0. 

Harmonized and consistent Information Models and Communications


The main purpose of communication is to transport information. – Efficient transport of information can be provided only based on standardized information models. Such information models should not only define data structures but also means for providing the semantic of the data. Consistency of the provided information is important not only when describing various aspects of an asset, but also when supporting different communication technologies in parallel.
