At this year’s ITS World Congress in Vienna, the FOKUS Competence Center ASCT (Automotive Services and Communication Technologies) presented safe mobility solutions based on the OVERSEE project. Using 1/18th scale autonomous communicating vehicles, long term use-cases “Emergency Brake” and “Platooning” were showcased at the fair. Neelie Kroes, responsible for the European Commission’s Digital Agenda, was very interested in how ITS can be used to support safer and more efficient mobility in the future.

The Scientists of Fraunhofer FOKUS demonstrated in a testbed with autonomous vehicle models, how intelligent networked electro mobility will empower individual transport in the city of the future. As an independent research body the institute explores how communication networks will contribute to a more convenient and more secure living. Basis to such solutions are interoperable and standard conform systems, considering flexibility and scalability.
