Fraunhofer FOKUS on the MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN 2013

News from Oct. 10, 2013

From October 16 to 18 "Medientage München" will take place at the International Congress Centre Munich (ICM) . The media Congress offers the audience a platform to launch major media-specific issues and technical discussions.

Our Competence Center "Future Applications and Media" (FAME) presents in the ICM Foyer, booth L1, its solution FAMIUM: A software ecosystem of components , and programming interfaces for multi-screen web applications. The researchers of "Future Applications and Media - FAME" present with FAMIUM an ecosystem as an end-to-end prototype implementation meant for early technology evaluation and interoperability testing. Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH) is the upcoming streaming standard for the Web and will harmonize video delivery across the Internet. The Fraunhofer FOKUS solution FAMIUM forms an ecosystem for the consumption and delivery of adaptive bitrate content as well as Digital Rights Management (DRM) protected content. FAMIUM bundles several DASH and DRM related functionalities for use in Web applications. It is based on the W3C working drafts Media Source Extensions (MSE) and Encrypted Media Extensions (EME).

The Media Fair features the most important companies, associations and institutions of the media sector. The main topics 2013 are: apps, connected TV, cloud services, CMS, digital broadcasting, digital lifestyle, distribution, HbbTV, mobile media, production, recruiting, social media or video-on-demand as well as media education and further training.

What began as a platform for the pioneers of private broadcasting has evolved into one of Europe's major trade meeting of its kind over the past few years. Today, with around 6,000 attendees from Germany and abroad, several hundred registered journalists, around 500 speakers, and about 90 discussion panels, MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN ranks among the decisive events for the world of media and communication.

Leading media managers and specialists analyse future trends in the media sector at MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN. Here is where experts in the fields of TV, radio, print, mobile communication, internet, multimedia, advertising as well as politicians and people working in the film industry come together. The Media Summit is both the traditional kick-off and the key element of MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN, to which the key players of the German media sector are invited. Together with the other summits this top-level forum has become one of Europe's most significant media expert panels of the year.

We look forward to your visit at the ICM Foyer, stand L1.
