A milestone on the path to implementing and evaluating the mobility data cloud concept

News from Nov. 23, 2012

In the context of the “International Workshop on Global Trends in Smart Cities (goSmart), which was co-located with „IEEE LCN (Local Computer Networks) 2012“ and held from October 22-25, 2012 in Clearwater, Florida, MOTION presented its pathbreaking paper entitled "On the Interplay of Open Data, Cloud Services and Network Providers Towards Electric Mobility in Smart Cities". It describes the activities within the GeMo project, related to the topic of collaborative electric mobility in future urban areas.

The main component required for the realization of such type of mobility is given by a so called "mobility data cloud" that is based on the Open Data Platform of Fraunhofer FOKUS. In that scope, MOTION presented on how the Open Data Platform can be combined with load balancing solutions inside an Internet Service Provider network, such that efficient data streaming can be implemented as one of the requirements for electric mobility. This paper is one of the milestones on the path to implementing and evaluating the mobility data cloud concept.
