Katsuo Yunoki

Development engineer, KDDI Research, Inc.

He received an B.E. degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Electro-Communications, Tokyo, Japan and joined Daini Denden, Inc. (now KDDI Corp.) in 1990.
He is currently a member of the Smart Wireless Technology Development group in KDDI Research, Inc. He is engaged in IEEE802.11 standardization activities since 2011.
Especially, he raised serious issues to be solved in IEEE802.11ai and 11ax standardization based on experiences from field trials in real public Wi-Fi services. Now he is involved in research on multi-RATs communication toward 5G era.


Interoperable control plane for enabling interworking of mmWave edge cloud and 5G mobile HetNets

Mm-wave is expected to provide radio communication with ultra high speed and low latency. However, it has been said that mm-wave communication has some issues like small coverage, blocking loss and so on. It requires backhaul with wide bandwidth and low latency for base stations, too. In order to overcome such kind of issues, it is very important to consider inter-working with mobile (cellular) system and utilization of edge computing. In this presentation, I will talk about our initial view and future works for our research.
