Fraunhofer FOKUS engaging with ETSI TC M2M

News from Nov. 15, 2011

On 26 - 27 October 2011, the second edition of an open workshop on Machine to Machine Communications, organized by ETSI, was held in Sophia Antipolis, France. In ETSI, the Technical Committee M2M is defining an end to end M2M service platform as a horizontal M2M solution. This standards based platform is engineered as an intermediate service layer to support multiple application domains whilst remaining network agnostic.

We are delighted to announce that the ETSI Technical Committee M2M Vice Chair, Marylin Arndt, will give a talk on M2M standardization at ETSI, Open Interfaces for an M2M services platform, at the Fraunhofer FOKUS FUSECO Forum.

The Fraunhofer OpenMTC platform implements the first release of the TC M2M specifications that will be published in Q4 2011. Feedback from our early prototyping is expected to help the new standard to mature and identify additional features to be included in future releases. Specifically, the interworking with 3GPP standards will be examined based on our many years experience with implementing OpenIMS, OpenEPC, and service delivery platform related specifications.
