Bernd Bochow received his diploma degree in electrical engineering in 1985 from the Technical University of Berlin. Until 1993 he worked as a researcher in the area of low bit rate speech and audio coding for GSM and MPEG, respectively, adaptive noise cancellation (ANC) for automotive applications and non-linear systems analysis at the Technical University of Berlin and at a small Berlin start-up company.

Since 1993 he is with Fraunhofer FOKUS and has been working as a senior scientist in the areas of ATM Testing and wireless ATM systems, Intelligent Networks signaling, fixed/mobile network convergence, and IP-based UMTS network architectures contributing to numerous national or joint European research and development projects (EURESCOM, ACTS, IST, and ICT) as well as within contractual work for national customers both as a researcher and as a project manager.

His recent research interests are in the area of vehicular communications, dynamic spectrum access systems, and Future Internet and 5G Testbeds. He has been participating in standardization as a contributor, technical editor and working group chair in the IEEE DySPAN-SC, successfully conveying research results from the European research projects into new standards.
