Rudolf Roth received his diploma degree in mathematics in 1988 from the University of Würzburg.

In Jan 1989 he joined the FOKUS institute and since then has been working as a senior scientist in the areas of specification techniques, conformance testing , qualtiy of service, multicasting, autonomic communications, and future internet technologies, contributing to numerous national or joint European research and development projects (EURESCOM, ACTS, IST, and ICT) and within contractual projects for national customers as a researcher and as a project planer and manager.

His recent research interests are in the area of self-adaptive resource adaptation in mobile networks, multipath transport protocols, fraud and intrusion detection, and migration support for IPv6 transition.
