Integration of satellite components in future networks
News from Nov. 19, 2014
In order to include satellite communication into an all-embracing future network Fraunhofer FOKUS and TU Berlin are working together with Eurescom, University College of London and Newtec to identify the technical and economic conditions for the convergence.
Additional developments for the interoperability between satellite and terrestrial communications will be addressed, including service and business orchestration, management and the assessment of cloud technologies. A realistic testbed will be implemented based on Newtec’s satellite network components, terrestrial UCL Cloud and the Fraunhofer FOKUS/TU Berlin toolkits of the OpenSDNCore and the Open5GCore. Novell technological advances in data networks, like the implementation of Cloud Architectures, Network Function Virtualization (NFV), Software Defined Networking (SDN) and network optimization will be demonstrated and evaluated on the OpenSDNCore and Open5GCore testbeds.
