The International AAAI Conference on Weblogs and Social Media (ICWSM-12) took place in Dublin, Ireland from June 4-8, 2012. ICWSM is a unique forum that brings together researchers from the discipline of computer science, linguistics, communication and, and the social sciences. Fraunhofer FOKUS' competence center Future Applications and Media was invited as one of the leaders’ in future smart city technologies to contribute the latest research findings in the “When The City Meets The Citizen Workshop”.

Fraunhofer FOKUS' competence center Future Applications and Media was invited as one of the leaders' in future smart city technologies to contribute the latest research findings in the “When The City Meets The Citizen Workshop". FAME senior research engineer Robert Kleinfeld presented the PADGETS project for empowering civic participation in the policy making process through Social Media. PADGETS is the key project of Fraunhofer FOKUS to demonstrate further concepts in the domains citizen engagement and eParticipation. Click here to see the slide set.

ICWSM-12, featured a program of workshops, tutorials, contributed technical talks, posters and invited presentations of researches across Europe and United States. The main conference featured keynote talks from prominent social scientists and technologists like Andrew Tomkins, Engineering Director, Google+ and Igor Perisic, Senior Director of Engineering, LinkedIn.
