CyberSecurity Workshop: Protection of Critical Company Assets

Despite the high investment volume of business and government in the protection of their computer and data systems, cyber-attacks are becoming more numerous and can also be harder to detect. The Competence Center Public IT of Fraunhofer FOKUS explained with partners on the 18th of April 2013 how to meet these challenges successfully during the cyber security workshop under the subject “Protection of critical company assets.

Attacks on companies, hot spots such as nuclear power plants or government or economic espionage -  cyber-attacks and ineffective security technology cost a lot of money and also shows a threat to the security of a company or state. Fraunhofer FOKUS has demonstrated with its partners Sourcefire ®, Interroute and NSS Labs during the workshop which dangers for critical company assets exist and how adequate security mechanisms can be established. Examples of cyber-attacks on government and economy were presented and live hacking demonstrations were performed. Practical suggestions for the evaluation of products and a contribution from the Berlin Office for the Protection of the Constitution completed the workshop program.
