embedded world 2014: Test environment for networked vehicles
Release from Fri., February 21, 2014
Modern vehicles are increasingly being equipped with assistance systems: For example a camera recognizes road signs and points out speed limits or no-passing zones to the driver. In the future vehicles will exchange data between each other or with the traffic infrastructure, in order to inform the driver of dangerous situations like an approaching traffic jam. The basis for vehicle-to-X communication is failsafe and reliable software systems. At the embedded world 2014 in Nuremberg (Hall 5, Booth 250) between the 25th and 27th of February, Fraunhofer FOKUS will present a test environment for testing of such complex and highly cross-linked systems.
The introduction of intelligent driver-assistance-systems poses new challenges for the vehicle manufactures, infrastructure providers and their suppliers. Assistance and communication systems built into the vehicles must function reliably on the one hand. On the other hand they must be interoperable with vehicles of other manufactures and with components of the traffic infrastructure, in order to exchange data. This leads to special requirements on the certification and acceptance processes and calls for flexible deployable test environments that can be adapted to the various practice-oriented test tasks.
Therefore, the researchers at Fraunhofer FOKUS have developed a test bench for the semantic interoperability and conformity test of systems for the vehicle-to-X-communication. The test bench supports the quality assurance and certification of such systems. Furthermore time and development costs can be saved, since in the early stages of the development process of vehicle-to-X-systems, quality assurance can be initiated.
The test-cases used in the test bench are based on the programming language TTCN-3 (Testing and Test Control Notation), which was specially developed for test automation. They can be deployed to test functional requirements as well as testing of stability, robustness, security and interoperability. The test methods and
test systems used support vehicle-to-X-message-structure and are conform to leading standards of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI). They can be adapted to other standards as well.
The test bench was developed in the research projects simTD (Sichere Intelligente Mobilität – Testfeld Deutschland) and DRIVE C2X (Accelerate cooperative mobility).
You are cordially invited to visit us at the embedded world 2014 in Hall 5, booth 250. We would be happy to make an appointment in advance for a personal discussion.
