At EuroITV 2013, the 11th edition of the European Interactive TV Conference series, Fraunhofer FOKUS was present with a talk held by Stefan Kaiser about advanced use cases around the future streaming standard MPEG-DASH, a demonstration booth according to this topic and organized together with French partner Telecom ParisTech the “4th International Workshop on Future Television: Focus on Multi Screen Applications”.

The talk "MPEG-DASH enabling adaptive streaming with personalized commercial breaks and second screen scenarios" outlined the future standard for streamed media delivered via the Web protocol HTTP and how use cases like advertisement insertion, personalized content delivery and second screen scenarios can be applied. It also highlighted the challenges that have to be met to realize these opportunities.

The corresponding demo booth presented the Famium framework and implemented use cases like static and dynamic ad-insertion, multi-screen delivery and synchronization, and a live TV stream in the browser using just HTML5 technologies without plugins.

The aim of the Workshop was facilitating exchanges around Multiscreen applications and creating a community of interested parties. During the Workshop, scientists from around Europe presented their latest research activities around the Multiscreen topic.
